A new fresh start

Derek sighed a bit and shook his head. "You have to eat, you know that. We can take some Chinese. You like Chinese, right?" he asked.

She looked down. "I... I don't know... I have never had it." She said looking at him for a minutes. She was lost. Her heart was lost and everything in her mind was. What could she do.

Derek swallowed slightly, seeing that something was wrong. But he was not going to rub it; instead, he was going to be all nice, he was going to grab food and take Cameron back to the many room-mates. "Let's pick it. You'll love it," he said with a small smile.

She nodded a little and nodded. "Ok then." She said looking at him now and smiled a little. "All I know about it is they eat a lot of rice." She said looking at him and looked around the street.

Derek chuckled and nodded, leading her to the closest restaurant. "They do, but not only that. It's really yummy. But if you don't like it, we can always order a pizza," he smiled.

She looked at him. "You don't have to do that." She said looking at her. She had no idea why he wanted her to do this so much, or why he was being so nice when no one had before.

Derek smiled and waved a dismissive hand. "Nah nah, shut up," he said gently, with a soft chuckle. "I want to make this night perfect for you. You will get to know the others, you're gonna like them. They can be weird at times, but pleasant."

"Really, you don;t have to be nice to me. I know you might feel you have to be nice, but you really don't." She said as they walked together. Her mind was still racing because of all this. Would Erik come looking for her? Would he fine her? Would he hurt her?

Derek sighed softly and gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "I don't have to be nice," he told her sincerely, looking at her as he kept walking. "I want that. I've found you after all these years and I want you to be happy here with me."

She looked up when he put his arm around her, because she was sure he was going to slap her, but the feeling felt great. She always wanted something like this, and now she was getting it and that was perfect. "If you are sure you want this."

Derek smiled, leading her to the closest Chinese place. "Of course I'm sure," he replied, holding the door open for her. He wanted her happy, he wanted to be different from the previous man.

She followed looking around. It smelled great in her and she really was hungry now. She looked around and licked her lip a little smiling like a fool.

Derek smiled a bit at Cameron's expression. "So, do you want a menu, to see what you want to have? I can bring one to you," he told her.

She turned her head to one side with a big smile. "You don't have to serve me." She said looking at him. She had no idea why he wanted to do everything for her. She never had that before.

Derek chuckled softly and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "I am not serving you, I'm helping, if you like this word better," he smiled, then kissed her head and started looking around. He wanted only the best for Cameron, because he hadn't had her for fifteen years; it was the moment now.

She looked at him, and smiled. "I guess if you want to call it helping, but it's not." She said looking at him. She looked down and picked up the menu. "Ok so what is good here?" She asked showing the menu to him.

Derek smiled and looked over the menu. "This is the best Chinese restaurant in town, so I like almost everything. Soups are great, so is the Hot Chicken Salad; that if you like spicy food. Oh, and General Tsao's Chicken! That's really great," he told her.

She looked at him and nodded. "I like spicy. So if you could pick on. Which would you pick?" She asked looking at him with her big blue eyes. She was never big on picking things.

Derek smiled when she said that she liked spicy; this was even better. At her question though, she thought of it for a moment, before shrugging with a smile. "I would take both," he told her.

"Both?" She asked looking at him. She turned her head to the other side, letting her bangs fall across her eyes. She was not sure why he was so nice, like this. SHe had never had this before.

Derek smiled big and nodded. "I love both, so I'd take both. Do you also want anything else?" he asked nicely. He didn't care about money at the moment, he would do everything to make her happy.

Cameron smiled at him and shook her head. "No that is fine. You know you do not have to do this right?" She said smiling brightly at him.

Derek chuckled and nodded as she went over to one of the waiters. "I know I don't have to. But you do know that I want to, right?" he asked with a smile, then started ordering what they wanted.

She nodded and smiled. She watched Derek speaking to the waiter and looked around at the others in the restaurant
