Hard case.

Teddy ran a hand through her hair as she walked on the hallways, trying to find her resident for the day. "Avery!" she called out, finally spotting him. She just hoped he had given up flirting to get more OR time, because she wouldn't forgive him the next time. "In the attendings' lounge," she told him, then headed over there. She was supposed to meet with Mark and his resident over there, for a difficult case. They didn't know if the patient would live or not, he had burns all over his body and his heart didn't work well either. But they were going to try at least.

Avery looked up from his charts and nodded at Teddy and hurried to follow her to the attendings' lounge. He knew he was with her today, and was sure if it was good or bad, because he knew how Teddy was.

Mark was in the attendings' lounge with Jenny. They were waiting for Teddy and Avery, who were taking their time.

Jenny folded her arms over her chest as she stood a bit behind Mark, waiting for Teddy, her roommate, and Jackson. It was not going to be easy to work with Jackson that day, because lately she had felt something different for him, and she wanted to keep her head in the game.

Soon enough, Teddy entered the attendings' lounge, followed by Jackson. "Sloan, Henderson," she greeted them with a nod, waiting for Mark to do the talking about the patient.

Mark pushed the chart across the table to let have a look at it. "Burn victim. He is really bad off and I need some extra hands." He said looking at her watching her read the chart.

Teddy sat down, then pointed at a bench for Jackson, as they were probably going to discuss the case for a while. She studied the charts, then sighed slightly. "He's had heart problems for the past two years, even a surgery... I don't know if we can operate on him," she said, sliding the charts back to Mark.

Mark looked at her. "Did you see how bad his burns are? He will not make it." He said raising a brow at her. Was she thinking about what pain this poor man was in right now?

Teddy shrugged and shook her head again. "If we perform the surgery, it is a big chance we kill him this way. Or not save the whole tissue, so he will remain with severe scars on parts of his body. It is dangerous for the heart, and I am the cardiothoracic surgeon who is in charge," she told him seriously.

Jenny looked over at Jackson and swallowed slightly. She had to keep her head in the game, but the worst was that she had to remind that to herself every time she saw his eyes or his smile. She turned her attention to the two attendings. It was dangerous, too dangerous, and she was aware of that.

Mark glared at her. "And if we do not help his heart will become to much on his heart and he will die." He said pointing a finger at her as he spoke a little roughly. He needed the help on this, and he needed her.

Teddy got up from her chair and looked at him, a small frown plastered on her forehead. It was too dangerous, but he didn't seem to understand. "Dr.Sloan!" she said, trying to make him stop talking. "His heart is too weak, he will probably die anyway. We have other patients to take care of."

"It's our job to save people and this man is one we have to try and save! Don't make me go to the chief." Mark said standing up as well. He was not happy right now at all. This poor guy had to be given a chance.

Jenny sighed and sat up when she saw Mark getting angry. Going to the Chief was not the best option and she knew that. "Sloan," she said. It was no way for professionalism there, because it didn't matter that much now. "I think Altman's right. I checked on him and his heart will give up sooner than you expect."

Mark whipped his head around to glare at Jenny. "What did you say?" He asked. "I don't remember asking for you to speak." He said.

Jackson sighed. "I'm with Dr. Sloan. This man has a right to live a life. He deserves a chance." He said looking at the ladies in the room.

Jenny folded her arms over her chest at her friend's harsh words. "I didn't know that I had to ask for you permission to have an opinion, Mark," she said with a straight, emotionless face. When Jackson spoke though, she swallowed and instantly looked down at her shoes. Even his voice was able to affect her, though she was too tough and professional to accept that.
"If we give him this chance, we are signing her death warrant," Jenny spoke, not looking at Jackson again. A few days ago, they had had that fun night at Meredith's, they had got closer than before, yet he seemed to have forgotten by now. But it was fine, work came first. "Am I right, Dr.Altman?" Jenny asked, looking up at her roommate.
Teddy just nodded, her eyes glued on Jackson, her resident. "Avery?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. What was up with him?

Avery looked at Jenny. "If we don't try then we are signing his death warrant." He said giving her a look. "I'm with Dr. Sloan on this one." He said looking at Teddy and folded his arms. "What?" He asked.

Mark stood there shaking his head. He was doing this with or without Teddy, if she liked it or not. He did not care.

Jenny folded her arms over her chest, but kept staring at the floor as Jackson spoke. She knew that he was not a bad doctor, but his biggest quality was that he was a good man. That was why he wanted them to try at least, because he wanted to give up his time to save the patient. Jenny did understand that and respected him even more for it, but she was way too selfish to think this way.

Teddy simply shook her head at Jackson's question. When she had a resident to take care of, she expected him or her to agree with her and do things her way. Because she was the teacher and he was nothing more than a student. She didn't tell Avery anything though, but turned her eyes back to Mark.
"Is your decision final, Dr.Sloan?" she asked, just wanting to make sure.

Mark looked at her and smiled. "Yes it is." He said folding his arms and sat down again. He was still man, but glad he had someone behind him.

Jenny sighed and shook her head as she remained standing, arms folded over her chest. She knew that this was wrong and it was probably going to kill the patient. And even though Mark was her boss for the day, she was with Teddy in this.

Teddy sighed slightly and nodded, but didn't reply with a smile. It was not the case. "You need me there," she stated. She was the Head of Cardio, and he needed the best in there, to take care of the patient's already weak heart. "You are killing him, Sloan. He could die just like that, with you taking care of patient who can actually be saved," she told him.

Mark looked at her. "I do need you there." He said and listened to her carefully. "He will die if we don't." He said looming at her shaking his head slightly.

Jenny sighed, without leaving Teddy reply. She knew that Mark was a good man and he wanted to do everything to save the woman, but this was crazy.
"He will die anyway," she said loudly, looking at him. She knew that she was not supposed to talk like that to her boss, but he was also her friend. Though at work, it didn't matter.

Mark turned his head at her and glared. "Listen here Jenny. He might died. That is why we have to do this damn it and we are doing his. Leave if you don't want to be in there!" He said loudly.

Teddy looked at Avery and shook her head. He should've been with her on this, but she couldn't stop him and get ideas in his head. At Mark's words though, she glanced at her roommate, then back at the plastic surgeon.
"No," she said. "She will be in that OR, with me. So we stop you two when it gets too much," she told him, though she assumed that he wouldn't be okay with her taking his resident.

He looked at her. "Then I get Jackson." He said roughly and glared over at Jenny. "So what? Because you are her friend and you two moved in together your on her side? You scared she will not wanted to be your friend anymore?" He asked folding his arms glaring.

Teddy frowned a little and looked over at Jackson, waiting for his opinion. Mark couldn't take him if he didn't agree, so she waited for something from him. But he couldn't say it, because Mark started telling all that to Jenny. "Sloan!" Teddy exclaimed, sending him a glare.

Jenny's eyes widened and her lips parted when Mark said that. She couldn't believe it. She couldn't believe that she, a professional, was told that took someone's side only because she was friends with that someone. Yes, she did love Teddy; she was her friend and her roommate. But she was not a better friend than Mark. Though after his remark, she was not that sure anymore. "How..." she started quietly, a disappointed look on her face. "How can you say that?"
